Steve was born and raised in the Bluffton, Indiana, area. As a teen he worked in auto body repair and this is where he learned custom work, pinstriping, and the many facets of painting.
In 1984 he opened a sign shop in Bluffton and also pinstriped trucks, cars, motorcycles, signs, and just about anything that required a stripe. In the early years of the sign business, he and his wife, Sue, traveled to many car shows where striping was done “on the spot”, usually from a wagon pulled by hand to each car.
Sometime around 1990, at the urging of Charlie Bussard (a great friend and brilliant striper), Steve began following the Honda Goldwing circuit and also included the 90th Harley-Davidson rally in Wisconsin, a couple years at Sturgis, S.D., and also Biketoberfest and Bike Week in Daytona, Florida. Steve and Sue have traveled to many cities throughout the United States to pinstripe, and have met many wonderful customers and friends for a lifetime. Many of their friends are other pinstripers and are considered a family away from home. Currently they pinstripe at fifteen events, including open houses for Honda dealerships.
